— behind the scenes
From a pencil sketch to a piece that will be treasured.
Every commission moves through six unhurried stages. Here's what each one looks like.
01Phase 01
The conversation
It starts with a phone call or an email. We talk about the room, the child, the story you want to tell. No commitment, no pressure.
02Phase 02
Sketches & quote
Rebecca hand-draws two or three concepts and sends them back with a clear, itemised quote. Iterate as much as you like.
03Phase 03
Timber selection
Once approved, we hand-pick the boards. FSC-certified European oak, ash, or tulipwood — chosen by grain, not just by spec.
04Phase 04
Cut & joinery
Cut, planed and joined in the workshop. Traditional joinery wherever possible — built to outlive trends and survive jumping on.
05Phase 05
Finishing & painting
Hand-sanded to satin, then painted, lettered or gilded by hand using child-safe, water-based, low-VOC finishes.
06Phase 06
Delivery & reveal
Wrapped, personally delivered and assembled in the room. We don't leave until you and the little one are smiling.
